TIPPERARY DANCE PLATFORM
The TDP combines the Tipperary Dance Residency, the International Tipperary Dance Festival and a pioneering programme for arts development in a rural environment. The Tipperary Dance Residency has been led by Iseli-Chiodi Dance Company and hosted by Tipperary EXCEL Arts Centre since 2009.
The residency is funded through a partnership between The Excel, The Arts Council and The Tipperary Arts Office. The aim of the residency is to develop contemporary dance both as an artform and practice in Tipperary Town and it’s hinterland. Key programme areas include new choreographed work, an internationally recognised curated dance festival (Tipperary Dance
Platform), professional development opportunities for dance artists, together with a public engagement programme.
Tipperary Excel Arts & Cultural Centre and South Tipperary County Council Arts Service have developed a Dance Residency with the brief of establishing and developing a Contemporary Dance Culture in South Tipperary. The dance resident(s) will be based at Tipperary Excel Arts & Cultural Centre but will also work outside of the Centre in South Tipperary, with a number of community & youth groups. The dance artists will have the opportunity to develop their own practice through use of agreed studio times.
